Why become an ITIL Expert?
ITIL is the most recognized and well-known
set of best practices for IT Service
Management. Used by thousands of
organizations around the world, the ITIL
Framework has matured and is now a defacto
standard for the management of IT.
The ITIL Expert status replaces the popular
and revered ITIL Service Manager
Certification, with the migration to ITIL
version 3. ITIL Experts are recognized and
respected in the industry for their
knowledge and skills. The status is
considered a unique achievement and can
enhance your professional status as well as
your career prospects significantly.
Why Our Expert Program instead of
single Intermediates?
-
Expert Program is the most
time-effective manner to get to Expert
status: Achieving Expert Level
by taking individual courses requires 25
(Capability) or 20 (Lifecycle) days away
from the office - Our Expert program
achieves the same in 12 or 10 days
-
Expert Program is the most
cost-effective program to achieve Expert
status: Utilizing e-learning
results in your key employees to spend
more time in the office

The Expert Program is designed with
the ITIL v2 Service Manager structure in
mind
Students thoroughly enjoyed as well as
feared the Service Manager course. Twelve
intensive days in the classroom, hours of
self study and challenging exams. ITIL
Expert can achieve the same when combining
the Intermediate courses and MALC in a
condensed classroom setting
The Expert Program characteristics
Not one, but two tracks
-
Lifecycle Track that includes:
Service Strategy (SS), Service
Design (SD), Service Transition
(ST), Service Operations (SO),
Continuous Service Improvement (CSI)
and Managing Across the Lifecycle (MALC).
The Lifecycle Track is for those who
provide guidance towards the
implementation of ITSM in an
organization like IT Managers,
Process Owners, ITSM Implementors
and ITIL Consultants.
-
Capability Track that includes:
Planning, Protection and
Optimization (PPO), Service
Offerings and Agreements (SOA),
Operational Support & Analysis (OSA),
and Release, Control, & Validation (RCV)
and Managing Across the lifecycle (MALC).
The Capability Track is for those
who are involved in executing and
improving existing ITIL processes in
an organization like Process
Managers, Operational Staff, Process
Consultants and IT Practitioners.

The Expert Program – The 12-week
“classic” Capability Track
This is the default option for the Expert
Program. In this option you will meet your
fellow students 3-times over a period of 12
weeks

Week 1 – Welcome and
introduction
The first interaction with your fellow
students takes place 4 weeks prior to
the first classroom session. The
students and instructor dial in to a
Virtual Classroom Environment for a
1-hour conference call (or alternately
meet for a program kick-off). During this
call/meeting, you will get to know each other,
learn about expectations setting, and
clarify everyone’s specific objectives
for the program.
Week 2-3 – Self-study
You received login details to the online
campus and can now log on to get started
with the e-learning modules of SOA and
PPO. It will take you about 6 hours to
complete one module. There is a clear
focus on knowing/understanding the
various processes covered in SOA and PPO.
Your instructor is available through
e-mail or telephone to address any of
your questions.
Week 4 – 5-day classroom session
After mailing and talking on the phone
with everyone, you will now meet the
group for the first time in a live
classroom setting. In 5 days, you will
cover the “practical” aspects of SOA and
PPO and participate in group discussions
and case-study exercises.
During these sessions, you will not only
learn about ITIL, but will also focus as
much on experience sharing with your
fellow practitioners.
Week 5 – Post-study and
examination
After a week of knowledge sharing and
interaction, you are back home or at the
office where you are trying to digest
the information and make sense of what
you’ve learned. There are 4 more hours
of e-learning materials to complete, and
this material will help you prepare for
your exam optimally.
When you feel ready, schedule your own
exam at a time and date convenient to
you.
Week 6-7 – E-learning RCV and
OSA
The first block of the course is over
with, and you are now starting with the
second block of the course — RCV and OSA.
The program structure basically repeats
itself, and you will start with 6 hours
e-learning per module.
E-learning is the most learner-centric
way of learning. Basically, you decide
what you would like to learn and how
much time you would like to spend on
specific topics. If you need some help
to structure your learning process, just
ask the instructor, and he/she will
monitor your progress and keep you on
track!
Week 8 – 5-day classroom session
You will meet your fellow students and
instructor again for the second
classroom week, where you will be
discussing RCV and OSA in greater
detail. Group learning is one of the
strengths of the Expert Program;
spending so much time with like-minded
professionals forms the basis for trust,
knowledge-sharing, and long-lasting
relationships.
Week 9 – Post-study and
examination
Back home for the second time, you will
work toward taking and passing the RCV
and OSA certification exams.
The Exam Preparation section of the
e-learning course includes a sample
exam, exam facts, and tips and tricks
that will help you prepare for the
actual exam.
If you complete the exam online, you
will know the results immediately. If
you opted for the paper-based version,
it will take a bit longer for the
results to be known, but this is
typically no longer than 2 or 3 days.
Week 10 – E-learning MALC
The last block of the course covers MALC.
Be aware that you can only start with
MALC after you have successfully
completed all four Capability exams.
Just like the individual Capability
courses, the full MALC e-learning module
takes approximately 10-hours to
complete; six before the classroom
course, and four after.
Week 11 – 2-day classroom
session
This is the last time that you are
meeting the group. This classroom
session will only take 2 days, but the
days are a bit longer; they are 9-hours
each.
Week 12 – Final Exam MALC
The last step is the MALC exam. You will
have to complete another 4 hours of
e-learning and then schedule the exam at
a time convenient to you. After
completing the course, you will be
invited into an exclusive community
though where you will be able to
continue interacting with your peers
and build relationships with other ITIL
Experts as well.
The Expert Program – The 12-week
“classic” Lifecycle Track
The Lifecycle Track follows a similar
approach as the Capability Track with three
classroom sessions and 50-hours of
e-learning. There are 10 days of classroom
training divided in two weeks of 4-days
followed by a session of 2-days for MALC.
-
2 weeks of 4 days each in the classroom
for the Lifecycle modules
-
2 days in the classroom for MALC
practical application
-
50 hours of self-study e-learning
-
Thorough exam preparation included in
the program
