Are you Ready for ITIL V3?

Take the chance now and complete ITIL V2 Service Manager Certification as long as it is available to save considerable time and money! Our next bridging course from ITIL V2 Service Manager to ITIL V3 Expert is scheduled for November 2009.

The fast-track to ITIL V3 Expert provides the following advantages:

    • It is easier, faster and quicker: Only two courses ITIL V2 Service Manager (Part 1 &2) & ITIL v2-v3 Service Manager Bridge, and 15 days of training compared to 5 to 6 courses and 20 to 25 days of training.
    • It is less expensive: The full V3 track will cost at least US$ 10,000 more than the fast-track through ITIL Service Manager and Bridging course.

What are the Changes from Version 2 to Version 3?

    • The main change from Version 2 to Version 3 is the introduction of the lifecycle approach to IT Service Management. This moves ITIL from a process-based, linear view to a more strategic business to IT alignment focus. With Version 2, this business view was lacking, as it was addressed in a separate book that was not commonly included in most training courses or implementation projects. As such, proprietary reference models (such as IBM and HP) were developed to attempt to address this shortcoming.
    • Version 3 presents the current 10 processes from the Version 2 Service Support and Service Delivery books embedded in the lifecycle framework, with updates to what we know today in Version 2. All of the Version 2 processes still exist with Version 3. Additional processes and disciplines have also been added, such as Service Knowledge Management and the management of organization and cultural change. In addition the current Service Desk function, new functions have been added to the suite, such as the Application Management function.
    • Overall, the core Version 2 processes are still in place in Version 3, so your Version 2 knowledge investment will remain applicable. If the current pattern of use of the best practice in the market is continued in Version 3, most of the guidance utilized will center on Service Transition and Service Operations.
    • Incidents will still need to be optimally managed, changes and releases still need to be processed with the right level of risk assessment, and services are still required to be designed using the disciplines of Availability, Capacity, Continuity and Financial Management in order to meet the business objectives; this is the essence of IT Service Management, and this has not changed from Version 2 to Version 3.

Version 3 (best practice and training) will completely replace Version 2 over the next two years.
